  1. Kansas and Beyond
My next painting series will focus on a recent trip from Kansas City in a snow blizzard that could have easily closed I-70.

The beauty of the landscape, paled by winter and vast with farm scenes reminiscent of Dutch paintings.

  2. and the trip started because of a "Trains Planes and Automobiles" situation, where I was essentially stuck at NY's La Guardia airport with my kids, Hannah and Levi. Our connection in Milwaukee looked sketchy at best, so my mench of a husband agreed to drive to K.C. (the closest other airport) and put us up at an airport hotel. Now, I went to school in Lawrence, one hour away from K.C., so I know 2 things for sure: 1) nice airport hotels/convenient airport and 2) SCRUMPTIOUS bar-b-q. My mouth was watering for a beef on bun as soon as this came up at the airport. So, after a mini vacation in K.C., my worried and exhausted husband wanted to get on the road. He had driven through an ice storm, yielding a 11 hour trip. The storm was worsening, as it was December 23rd and Kansas storms are severe (think Wizard of Oz type tornado, but with snow).

We had our food (with a box to go) and visited my alma mater, KU and then got on the foggy road. And about 2 hours into the trip that would take 13 hours or so, I saw fiels of honey colored wheat swirled with perfect semi circles of snow. A windmill or a cowboy sign for Adelaide
